Dr Crooke….graduated from Edinburgh University as a physician and surgeon and became the house surgeon in the Royal Infirmary then later the medical officer on the New Zealand Shipping Company line.
In 1899 Dr Crooke was appointed senior medical officer at Christchurch Hospital and in 1906 returned to England to study medicine at the University of Durham before returning to Christchurch Hospital, resigning in 1910 to go into privte practice.
….(He relocated) to Rotorua for a couple of years but returned to Christchurch.
Dr Crooke was a Freemason and earned an excellent reputation as a musician in Christchurch, later being honored in 1920 with life membership of the Christchurch Liedertafel group, which he joined in 1902.
