Life Story
Born Jane Elizabeth Irvine in 1860, Jane married Thomas Edmonds in London in June 1879 and emigrated to New Zealand shortly after, arriving in September of the same year.
Jane worked with her husband in their Grocer’s on Ferry Road running the store whilst her husband perfected his formula for the famous Edmonds ‘sure to rise’ Baking Powder.
Jane and John had eight children. Four sons and four daughters. Two of their sons are buried in the same plot, as is her husband, Thomas John.
